Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Nutritional Counseling:
Bertram Furman, L.Ac. QME

Bertram Furman L.Ac., QME, owner and director of The Wellness Source and Oriental Medical Associates, is passionate about helping people achieve their optimum health and wellness.

Bertram takes a full and holistic view of each patient. His education in Oriental Medicine included acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition, Tai Chi and yoga. He received his Masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Bertram is a licensed acupuncturist, a Diplomate of the National Board of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, and a Qualified Medical Evaluator for Workers' Compensation cases. He is also a member of the American Acupuncture Council, California Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and The Society for Acupuncture Research.

In addition to his degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Bertram believes that the analytical training he received in an earlier career as an engineer helps him to accurately diagnose and treat his patients (he holds a Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering and has worked in research and development for the government and Lockheed).

Bertram provides his patients with the most effective way to restore balance and leads them to their optimal health. He works on both the immediate imbalance and the causative factors, and shows his patients how easy and fun it can be to achieve wellness - not just in the short-term, but for life. He knows firsthand what it's like to be unhealthy, the challenges of making changes in one's life and the rewards of achieving and sustaining good health.

Known for his upbeat personality and caring bedside manner, his patients know that Bertram truly listens to their concerns and is there to help them achieve their wellness goals.

A popular lecturer on wellness, nutrition, stress reduction, exercise and Chinese medicine, Bertram brings the message of good health to organizations throughout the San Diego area.

Personal Statement:

As director and owner of Oriental Medical Associates, I am committed to you receiving the most appropriate and excellent care for your condition.

I believe that restoring balance is essential to one's health. I work on the immediate imbalance and the causative factors, allowing my patients to resolve their condition in a timely manner.

My practice consists of helping people achieve and maintain their optimal state of health and wellness.

My outside interests include all outdoor activities - everything from long-distance swimming at the cove, working out and sailing, to hiking and camping in the desert and Sierras. My wife and I enjoy traveling and gardening, and even grow some of the herbs we use in our clinic.

Chiropractic: Dr. Christina Sánchez, D.C.

Dr. Sánchez received her degree in Chiropractic from the Palmer College of Chiropractic West, graduating Cum Laude. Skilled at using the appropriate technique for each patient's body, she uses low force techniques such as Activator, Blocking and Drop, as well as traditional approaches to adjusting the spine, such as Manual Diversified Adjusting.

Dr. Sánchez has been a chiropractic patient since she was a child. In 1998 she received her bachelor's degree in biology from Santa Clara University, where she competed on the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer team (including two Final Four Championship appearances). Believing his daughter could be a top-level athlete, her father started her under chiropractic care at the age of 10, as a way to support her body, overall health and future athletic career. Eighteen years later she graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West and started her private practice, Choice Chiropractic.

Dr. Sánchez is pleased to be affiliated with The Wellness Source and Oriental Medical Associates, sharing space in the same clinic location.
